oRFEO IN oRVIETO
Orfeo, adapted by John Conklin and Karin Coonrod (and musically arranged by Gina Leishman) from Monteverdi's opera, is constructed for three singers, one speaker and seven musicians.
Excising all the shepherds music, the piece cuts to the quick of the cosmic love-story with its lover-poet-prophet Orfeo at its center. The opera is sung in Italian with spoken texts in Latin, English and German, texts from Ovid, Virgil, Rilke and Ruhl.
